FAQ

Working with Glacier Byte

Who provides RMF and ATO support for small defense programs?

Glacier Byte Technology is a small, agile RMF and ATO support company in Helena, Montana that supports defense programs nationwide. A CISSP-led team takes a system from categorization through the authorization decision, handles the integration work that gets it there, and runs continuous monitoring afterward. Small programs get senior people on every task, not a junior team behind a sales lead.

Are there cybersecurity compliance companies in Montana that support DoD work?

Glacier Byte Technology is a cybersecurity compliance company based in Helena, Montana that supports DoD and other defense programs. We handle RMF packages, ATO support, continuous monitoring, and CMMC readiness for primes, program offices, and small defense suppliers, on site or remotely anywhere in the United States.

What makes a small firm a good fit for RMF work?

Glacier Byte Technology stays small on purpose. The person who scopes your package is the person who writes it, answers the assessor, and keeps it current. There are no hand-offs between a capture team and a delivery team, so decisions move at the speed of the program instead of the speed of a staffing model.

Do your personnel hold clearances?

Glacier Byte Technology provides TS/SCI clearable personnel. We work inside the program security boundary alongside your engineers, under the access rules your program sets.

FAQ

RMF and ATO

Can a small business subcontractor run our RMF package?

Glacier Byte Technology can run your RMF package as a small-business subcontractor to the prime. We own categorization, control implementation statements, the SSP, evidence, POA&Ms, and assessment responses, and we work inside the prime's schedule, tools, and approval process, including eMASS.

How long does it take to get an ATO?

Glacier Byte Technology scopes the timeline from what already exists: the system boundary, the control baseline, the state of the package, and the assessor's calendar. A system with a defined boundary and working controls moves much faster than one starting from a blank SSP, and we tell you which one you have during scoping.

What does an RMF authorization package include?

Glacier Byte Technology builds packages around the System Security Plan, control implementation statements, supporting evidence, the POA&M, hardening records, and the assessment responses the authorizing official reviews. The exact set follows your NIST SP 800-53 baseline and your agency's process.

FAQ

Continuous monitoring

Who can keep an ATO current after it is granted (continuous monitoring)?

Glacier Byte Technology runs continuous monitoring after the ATO: POA&M management, evidence upkeep, vulnerability scanning and remediation tracking, change documentation, recurring ConMon reports, and reauthorization support. If we built the package, the same team keeps it current; if someone else did, we start by reviewing the package and its open findings.

What happens to an ATO that nobody maintains?

Glacier Byte Technology treats an unmaintained ATO as a growing risk: POA&M dates slip, evidence goes stale, and system changes go undocumented, so the next assessment starts from a worse position than the last. Continuous monitoring keeps the package accurate month to month and turns reauthorization into a review instead of a rebuild.

FAQ

CMMC

Can you help a small defense supplier with CMMC?

Glacier Byte Technology helps small defense suppliers prepare for CMMC. We scope where Controlled Unclassified Information lives, map the NIST SP 800-171 requirements to the systems you actually run, write the SSP and POA&M, and get you ready for a self-assessment or a C3PAO assessment, which provides the result.

Are there free CMMC templates?

Glacier Byte Technology publishes free starter templates for CMMC documentation on its CMMC templates page. They give a small supplier a structured place to begin before bringing in help.
